The DDWA Annual Family Gathering held in Eastbourne featured in news reports on Bangladeshi news channels. The event was a huge success, both in terms of organisation and also in strengthening the connections between family members of Dighir Par.
In May 1998 with great respect, wholeheartedly, considering the situations past present and future of the tribes and villagers of Dighir par, Md Eyaorr Miah (s/o Late Al-Hajj Gulam Rabbani) proposed to Md Abul Lais (s/o Late Md Mosthori Miah) that there is an urgent need to organise a community association for Dighir par, Sreeramshi in Bangladesh. For the developments, welfare, improvements of quality of life and relief in need etc.
Md Abul Lais took the proposal on board and suggested that it will be wiser to discuss the situations with other older cousins Al-Hajj Md Redwanul Hoque (s/o Late Md Mahfuzul Hoque). And Al-Hajj Khalisur Rahman (s/o Late Al-Hajj Fozlur Rhaman). Once they spoke to each others at Flat 4, 54a Hanbury Street, London E1 5JL, UK. Everybody agreed on the proposal.
After that, all four members set meetings with all the tribes and villagers in UK and in Bangladesh, it was fully accepted and unanimously agreed that it was important to establish an association which was named as DIGHIR PAR DEVELOPMENT AND WELFARE ASSOCIATION (DDWA in short). This is how the association was founded.
1. To promote and improve the development of Dighir par
2. The provision of advice and welfare of Dighir par and to improve quality of life
3. Education and training (including Islamic Education) and
4. Recreational facilities, supporting all aspects in good causes and relief in need
All the Tribes and residents of Dighir par, in UK and in Bangladesh, unanimously agreed in the beginning of year 2000, for the benefit and betterment of the society, to live in peace and harmony that to create a platform, and together decided that the name of the association should be called as Dighir par Development and Welfare Association (DDWA) in short.
